Tangerine Babe!

Babe, I got you babe!

I'd like to say "THANKS" to my blogger friends who provided their comments and reviews to my previous post "Mixed About Mixers". I made my final decision SO MANY times, going back and forth between Kenwood Chef and KA Artisan or Pro. Unfortunately, I can't find Cuisinart and Bosch mixers here. In hindsight, better that way or else I'd still be thinking which one to get. In the last 2 weeks, my decision hadn't seem to change, and I believe it means THIS IS THE ONE. And what a great luck on my side last night. I wanted to purchase it last weekend but my plan got cancelled. Finally went to Robinson's last night (which was unplanned!) and guess what!...there was a further price reduction for OCBC Bank/Robinson's card member! Adding to the bonus was, the color that I had mentally shortlisted, Tangerine, was one of the 3 colors that qualify for the card members' privilege. Woohooo!! So, I got my Tangerine baby at SGD599 instead of SGD$779. For my readers in Singapore who have been thinking of getting a KA Artisan, your last chance for this great bargain is today (Sunday, 23 Aug). If you don't have a OCBC/Robinson's credit card, just make a few calls to family and friends and buy them a meal for this favor! You'll save SGD180, which can get you a flight tix on budget airline to Bangkok!! So, hurry on! :D

Cheers!

  4. Congratulations! Now, the first step is to properly pet the kitchen aide mixer and welcome this wonderful addition to your kitchen....this is a must! I am soooo happy for you and remember when I got my first one. My problem was that I knew the mixer could handle anything but my new kitchen friend was so shiny and new that I did not want to get anything on it. I still polish each after being used and my first one was purchased...oh my goodness...over 9 years ago! Did I mention Congratulations?! =D

  9. hi *Wendy*, you are definitely right as i plan to 'open ceremony' by making potato bread next week. i can't wait ;-)

hi *A World in a PAN*, yes it will definitely be swinging in my kitchen! i'm so excited! hehe.

hi *Anncoo*, yes, it's a precious new toy! my first time owning a stand mixer :D

hi *Shandy*, so good to see you're back online. i have already given it some stroking & wiping immediately after i brought it home last night & will keep it shining & bright! it's amazing that you bought your 1st KA over 9 yrs ago & still able to maintain it so well.

hi *the ungourmet*, if it's not tangerine, i would definitely get the green one. lucky me tangerine was on special member sale. :D

hi *cookingpractice*, go get one quick! there are many other colors you'll definitely like too. :)

  10. hi *Kitchen Cookalong*, i remember you mentioned that you got the tangerine color too. i really like it but i must say that making the final decision was difficult because the other colors like green, red, yellow are also gorgeous. i was lucky to go on the right day when tangerine was on additional price reduction.

hi *pigpigscorner*, don't be, don't be...quick go & get one too. like-minded people like us all who blog about baking, cooking & food will feel on top of the world after getting one. i'm still over the moon with my new toy :D

  13. congratulation on your new toy!! there is no excuse for you now not to bake ,right? hehehe!! btw,I just calculate your mixer to USD..it's $400!! awww....that expensive lor compare wt what we bought..I have the same one as you...even not on sale our price are much cheaper !! not on sale it's about $299 but I got it on sale plus I ask the store to bet the sale price wt online discount price..after rebate and discount I got mine at about $170!! too bad I can't buy it here and bring back to KL for my mom ...the kwatt is the big problem!*sigh* looking forward to your baking:p

  14. hi *Angie*, the red one is also gorgeous & looks really classy too.

hi *Chef Fresco*, thanks & i shall try that scallop meal soon.

hi *Asian Kitchen*, i know you are so right! i checked internet & CANNOT believe that KA is SO cheap in US. i guess because they are made there. my friend suggested that i order online via Amazon.com but i dare not because i can't pre-test or check the product before buying. so, don't have a choice. i found out that in M'sia, it is A LOT more expensive ..ard RM2,400 if i'm not mistaken. crazy huh! what to do, RM value so low, thus the import duty must be very high. if you want to buy for your mum, why don't you check out the shipping cost for it. you'll never know it may still be much cheaper than buying in KL.

  15. Cool dear, i love the color. Its going to make your work lot easier, let me wait for more baking recipes from you and your lovely gadget.

  16. You are very lucky because your KA is much cheaper than mine. I bought mine for 539 euro with free ice cream maker. I am looking forward for your recipe using your new KA.

  17. You will love it and the attachments are endless. I can do everything from ice cream, sausage making, meat grinding, to pasta making.

I wish I would have gone to the KA pro but the artisan I have no problems with except for bagel dough which was to dense. However, the trade off is the artisan fits under my cabinets which the pro would not.

So what do you have planned for its first run?

  18. How beautiful!! I can't wait to see what you create with it!!

  19. I adore your new look over here! Your header is spectacular!!

  20. Gorgeous color of your new kitchen aid! Congrats!

  21. hi *Mye* , i agree, it's gonna help a lot in all my baking.

hi *Kitchen Cookalong*, i'm rather surprised that yours is costly despite paying in euro. well, this means you really gotta make full use of your KA & the ice cream maker.

hi *Jeff*, i'm keen to get some of the accessories too, but later on. i was thinking of KA Pro at first but decided not to as i don't think i'll be making anything with large amount like triple the recipe portion etc. yes it's taller than Artisan & sitting on the counter under the top wall cabinet could be a prob. what will mine do its 1st run for? hmm..i'm thinking of potato bread or one of your bread recipes on yr blog ;D

hi *Cinnamon Girl* & *5 Star Foodie*, thank you..i'm so happy because it's my 1st stand mixer. feel like a little girl getting a new school bag. quite silly. haha

hi *ungourmet*, thanks. the header is easy to do. if you want to know how, let me know. rather long to explain it here.

  25. do you think the kilokwatt(electricity) for mixer that bought in US can be used in Malaysia? As I know cell photo, digital camera and gps have no problem .If the mixer can be use in Malaysia without using different adapter system, maybe I can bought one from here and bring back wt me next year when i'm vacation there..

  26. A KITCHEN AID!! lucky you! ;) darn, I miss the sale! ><

  27. I wish I could own one soon, since became blogger, it seem I have a lot of things to buy, a new camera, a new mixer ...Looking forward to see more baking jobs from you,Congratulations..

  28. *beachlover*, in terms of KA's kilowatt, definitely can be used for the electricity system in M'sia and it is the same in S'pore. The only thing I'm not sure is the type of plug. Here, as you know, Msia/Spore use the 3 or 2 pin plug. you can ask the store in US if it is safe to use adapter or not for the KA if the plug type is different.

*noobcook*, Robinsons' have promotions quite regularly, so stop by to check once in a while.

*Sonia*, i know what you mean..haha. i am 'distancing' myself from wanting to buy an SLR camera! :)
